In addition to teaching the essentials of rhythm, music notation, theory, and technique, I take a unique approach with each student based on his or her particular interests and inclinations, considering where they are in their musical journey

Teaching Methods
For Beginners
We will work together through method books, as well as my own supplemented material ensuring you develop the fundamentals correctly, to save you the pain of unlearning bad habits later on. As early as the first lesson, we will also explore music that you love.
I believe that in the beginning, fun is a critical ingredient for success. My approachable and patient demeanor makes me especially well suited for teaching children.
For Intermediate to Advanced
We will work on the finer details of proper technique, interpretation, and effective practice via works like Hanon’s Virtuoso Pianist and Czerny Practical Methods. You’ll build an impressive repertoire of music you love.
You’ll become intimately familiar with the essential scale territories, chords, and progressions of every tonality so you have the tools you need for improvising and playing by ear.
